Winnicott Klein and Bion Recording

"Winnicott, Klein and Bion: On the Nature of the External Object—Holding and Container/Contained"

In this video lecture, given as part of the James Grotstein Memorial Lectures in Los Angeles last March, Dr. John Lundgren introduces Grotstein's work as as a prelude to Dr. Aguayo's overview, which gives a local flavor to how Winnicott was invited to the old Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Institute to give 'his slant' on the Kleinian development. Attention is paid to the earlier and more 'Kleinian' version of Winnicott's famous 'Transitional Objects' paper of 1951, the unpublished paper over which he broke his ties with Melanie Klein and her group. As such, this video lecture sets a context for the updated version of this paper, which appears in the October, 2018 issue of the Psychoanalytic Quarterly.

The video will also serve as a prelude to Dr. Aguayo's presentation at the Twelfth International Evolving British Object Relations Conference in Seattle (October 12-14, 2018) by providing an historical context to the conference theme: "The Body as Psychoanaltyic Object: Clinical Applications from Winnicott to Bion and Beyond".

Please note that Dr. Aguayo's lecture begins after a series of introductions 14 minutes into the video.
