Specialty/Practice Description

After completing my academic studies in sociology, the humanities, and social work, I began my training at NPSI. Currently, I am a member of several local, national, and international psychoanalytic organizations associated with promoting psychoanalysis. I am licensed in Washington State where I see patients from young adults through seniors ― in person, on the telephone, and on Zoom. I am interested in the difficulties that originate from excessive anxiety which so often interferes with relationships and creativity. I am also interested in trichotillomania, an anxiety-related condition that stubbornly resists treatment. Too often, an individual suffers secretly with hair pulling before finally seeking help. Recently, I have begun to help mothers of twins. Multiple births bring additional and unexpected stresses to mothering and the entire family.

As a non-traditional student, I came to understand the disadvantages and the advantages of pursuing undergraduate as well as graduate degree programs out of sync with my peers. I am interested in mentoring graduate students and sharing my experiences.

Hair, a continually newsworthy subject, is the focus of my dissertation work. Since we rarely cut or grow our hair today as a public sign of mourning, people no longer associate hair with the painful process of separation and loss from real or symbolic death. However, if we twist our lens a little, we may see something new and overlooked occurring among us.
