 Title: “Unconscious Phantasy: A Panel Discussion” 

Panelists:  Maxine Anderson, MD, FIPA; Judy K Eekhoff, PhD, FIPA; Jeffrey Eaton, MA, FIPA

This scientific meeting presentation will consist of a panel discussion between psychoanalysts Maxine Anderson, MD, FIPA, Judy K Eekhoff, PhD, FIPA, and Jeffrey Eaton, MA, FIPA. Together they will reflect upon the theme of unconscious phantasy as it currently informs their clinical work. Each will present a ten minute reflection on their personal views. Panelists will then comment on one another's presentations before opening the discussion to the large group. The intention of the meeting is to bring several different points of view into awareness to create a space for thinking together as a community about the topic of unconscious phantasy. 
 
Learning objectives
 
1) Participants will deepened their appreciation of the concept that all of psychic life is underpinned by unconscious phantasy.
 
2) Participants will be able to name and describe how elements of unconscious phantasy are related to the body and the individual's sense of identity.  
 
3) Participants will be able to describe the link between unconscious phantasy and forms of anxiety and defense related to its operation.
 
About the Panelists
Maxine Anderson, MD, FIPA and Judy K Eekhoff, PhD, FIPA are NPSI Training and Supervising Analysts. Jeffrey Eaton, MA, FIPA is a Faculty Member and graduate of NPSI.
